In defence of Shazia Ilmi - Complete FaceBook post

Shazia Ilmi has hit the nail on its head even if she has been a bit Flippant while doing so!

                 We Muslims did trust Congress for sixty years and in return we had Gujarat -1969 Riots, Jamshedpur Riots, Bhagalpur riots,  Meerut CRPF Carnage, Bhiwandi riots, Post Babri Masjid, Mumbai riots as well as Riots all over the Country with Narasimha Rao, the then Congress Prime Minister, who has been proved through a recent Media Sting Expose’  to have been a hand in glove with the Sangh Parivar in the Babri Masjid Demolition Conspiracy, using state machinery to ruthlessly  suppress the Muslims anger over the Unjust and Barbaric act of Demolition of a four hundred old Muslim Monument and in  these riots, most if not all the Judicial Inquiry Commissions have always found  that they were all stage-managed by the RSS and its extended Sangh Parivar that included its hydra headed wings such as the VHP and the Bajrang Dal. Simultaneously, the Inquiry Commissions, such as Justice Krishna’s Commission that was established to investigate the massive Post Babri Masjid Demolition Mumbai Riots lasting for more than three months (December 1992- March 1993) had reported complicity of the local administrators and especially the Mumbai Police Force under the then Congress government lead by Mr. Naik, with the rioters!

                Apart from the above mentioned riots, we had the Post Babri Masjid  riots on a large scale in Surat- Gujarat  and the Goriest of them all – we had the Post Godhra Carnage,  State Sponsored Anti-Muslim Gujarat Pogrom in 2002 resulting in the Brutal Killing of thousands of innocent Muslim men, women and children, under Mr. Modi’s watch as the then CM of Gujarat, that continues to HAUNT him also till date, apart from the VICTIMS of that POGROM such as Zakia Jafferi –widow of a Congress MP Mr. Ehasan Jafferi who was Brutally Lynched in the Gulbarg Society Massacre in which case the Complicity of the Then CM, Mr. Modi is still being argued in the Gujarat High Court by the Widow Mrs Zakia Jafferi and for which the Supreme Court came up with its famous quote about the Gujarat Administration including Mr.Modi as being the Modern day Indian Neros who watched while Gujarat was burning!!It may be noted that the Supreme Court had to Restart and Shift most of the High Profile cases of this State Sponsored Pogrom outside of Gujarat to Maharashtra when it found that the Gujarat government was Soft Pedalling these cases and many of its public prosecutors were  found to be aiding and abetting – indirectly if not openly the Rioters such as the notorious VHP goon Baba Bajrangi and Mr. Modi’s minister for “Women and Children –Mayaben Kodnani, who was surprisingly and originally a Doctor, a  Gynaecologist or a Paediatrician ( Doctor for Women / Children) (!) ; both were convicted and sentenced to life for the Brutal Murders of nearly a hundred Naroda Patya Muslims ( mostly Women and Children as most of the Men had managed to escape, including the most BARABARIC, BRUTAL and INHUMAN lynching of a CHILD in the WOMB  of a MUSLIM  WOMAN and displaying of its DEAD BODY  as a SOUVENIR  as CONFESSED by Baba Bajrangi himself!)

            The latest such BETRAYAL of the Muslim Minority BUT by a so called Secular Party, the Samajwadi Party was the Recent Muzaffar Nagar riots in UP under the watch of  Akhilesh Yadav  who just could not come up to Machinations of Communal Goons on both side  of the divide, the right wing communalist and the secular fundamentalists with vigilante rapacious representatives from either side having been put under the dock by the Courts!  

             I had to present the Picture of this  Continuous Betrayal of the Muslim Minority post Independence of India, that was betrayed  time and again by the Indian State per-se to Highlight one Glaring Charade  that the Right Wing has been propagating against the Indian Muslims! Those Non- Secular Muslims who, before Independence had sided with the Muslim League and OTHER  Partition Lobbies DID CROSS OVER to the other side then - that is they did migrate to Pakistan then and all of them have NEVER wanted to return to India except as Tourists and Visitors visiting some left over relatives on this side.

            Therefore, it is clear that those Indian Muslims who did not choose the OPTION of migrating to Pakistan then had many reasons not to do so, BUT the most important amongst them was indeed their SECULAR NATURE that was seeped too deeply in to the GANGA-JAMUNI culture of those days  that did not allow them to SUSPECT that  INDIA’S Hindu majority would become OVERTLY COMMUNAL some day and harm them some time in the future as it did experience from Time to Time as highlighted above! AND therefore,Post Independence,  politically, Indian Muslims whole heartedly embraced the Demonstrably Most Secular Party of those days and which was the only Party of some Political Worth – the Indian National Congress with the most secular Leader India has ever produced  - Jawaharlal Lal Nehru at its helm of affairs!

            But as I have highlighted above, under the constant onslaught of the Right Wing Communalists, the Congress started to wilt and  lose its genuine Secular Nature ( Recall Narasimha Rao’s role in the Babri Masjid Demolition Conspiracy) and started to compromise ( Opening of the Babri Masjid’s Locks , 1987- 89, with Rajiv Gandhi trying a silly balancing act between Hindu and Muslim Communalists post Saha Bano fiasco !). As such, with the Congress loosing the plot in the nineties and by Late Nineties lost it totally when in 1998, the first NDA government got formed and the NDA continued to rule till 2004 when the after affects of the 2002 Gujarat Pogrom and the Fiasco of a hyped up Media Blitz around the slogan “India Shining” similar to the Current “Modi along with Gujarat Model – shining”, got punctured like all balloons eventually do and UPA took Over to rule and misrule alternatively for five plus five years at Delhi! But  what was  important for the Indian Muslims was that the Congress over nearly Fifty Years started  just giving Lip Sympathy towards issues of Muslim Minority’s real Empowerment so that as The Justice Sachar Committee has conclusively PROVED that the ACCUSATION  on the Congress by the Right Wing Elements  of so called “Muslim APPEASEMENT” is totally unfounded and it is only a CHIMERA created deliberately by the Right Wing elements to keep harassing the Indian Muslims for their support to the Congress!

            So now, to CONCLUDE why I approve of Shazia Ilmi’s profound observation!

            Since the last Sixty Six years we, the Indian Muslims have paid “The Secular Jazia (Tax)” to the Secular Parties just to Protect Us from the SCOURGE of  COMMUNAL RIOTS that the Secular Parties were never able to do either being unable to Prevent the Right Wing Communalist from their Well Planned and Designed “RIOT POLITICS” ( Muzaffar Nagar -2013) or Unwilling to do ( Mumbai -1993)! Despite such repeated Betrayals, we continued to foolishly repose our faith in these Secular Party’s who continuously MADE use of our Votes to form their Governments both at the Centre as well as in several states but never delivered fully on their promises to Bring an Utopian State of Empowerment on a par with the Majority Community so much so that now the  majority of Muslims in India are worse off Economically than even the Dalits in the country!

            The Aam Aadmi Party, over the last one year or so has been projecting itself as the “New Secular and Centrist”    formulation that is Promising the Indian  Muslims genuine political and economical empowerment and many Muslims have believed and are thronging to it! But  supposing this experiment  also turns out to be a mirage for the Muslims, we will be left with no other choice but to  courageously go ahead and form a SECULAR, SOCIALIST and  DEMOCRATIC political front with other SUBJUGATED MINORITIES of all hues and shades ( religious, linguistic and regional) on a PAN –INDIAN basis  on the lines of  BSP that was  formed by Kanshi Ram to  CATER to BAHUJAN SAMAJ as claimed by its Strong leader Madam Mayawati!

            We now, only require a Strong Man like the Dalits had in Kanshi Ram, who can Lead Us through the increasingly polarising political times and temperatures in India!

AND hence, Probably what Shazia Ilmi meant was that we Indian Muslims have all along, foolishly  remained tied to the apron strings of Fake Secular Parties,  who all the time only  masquerade  as  being Secular but really give a damn to all the real Secular Ethos, sacrificing the secular ideology on the drop of a hat at the altar of POLITICAL EXPEDIENCY ( Mr. Ramvilas Paswan being a most recent and GLARING example of this Syndrome!) and that it is HIGH TIME that we now STRIVE  CEASELESSLY to

  become a POLITICAL FORCE to RECKON WITH on our own, along with Like Minded and “LIKE SUFFERING” other minority groups!
